Restoring Dignity to Traditional Institution Administration
The Isuikwuato Local Government Area recognizes the vital role of traditional rulers in preserving our cultural heritage, promoting peace, and advancing community development. The administration of Hon. Chinedu Ekeke is committed to ensuring that the process for the presentation of Eze-elects is conducted with transparency, fairness, and respect for the customs and traditions of our people.
A Landmark Reform
Upon assuming office, the administration reviewed the process for the presentation of Eze-elects and identified the need to remove financial barriers that placed unnecessary burdens on communities.
In response, the Executive Mayor, Hon. Chinedu Ekeke, abolished the practice under which communities were expected to incur substantial financial costs in connection with the presentation of their Eze-elects. This reform was introduced to ensure that no community is denied or delayed in the recognition process because of financial considerations.
The reform reflects the administration’s commitment to transparent governance, equity, and the preservation of the dignity of traditional institutions.
Our Policy
The presentation of an Eze-elect by Isuikwuato Local Government Area shall be based solely on compliance with applicable laws, established traditional procedures, and prescribed administrative requirements.
No community shall be required to provide gifts, cash donations, or any other form of unofficial inducement to the Local Government or its officials as a condition for the presentation of an Eze-elect.
Every community shall be treated fairly, impartially, and with respect, irrespective of its size or financial capacity.

This policy seeks to:
- Promote transparency and accountability in the presentation of Eze-elects.
- Eliminate unnecessary financial barriers associated with the presentation process.
- Protect communities from undue financial burdens.
- Preserve the dignity and integrity of traditional institutions.
- Ensure equal treatment for all communities.
- Strengthen public confidence in the administration of traditional institution matters.
Presentation Requirements
Communities seeking the presentation of an Eze-elect are expected to:
- Comply with the applicable laws governing traditional institutions in Abia State.
- Complete all prescribed administrative procedures.
- Ensure there are no unresolved disputes.
- Submit all required documentation to the Local Government.
- Cooperate with any verification processes where necessary.
